DIY Aquaponics Workshop this Sunday!

I know it’s pretty short notice, but Hubby and I realized that this was the only Sunday in May, that we could host our first ever, DIY Aquaponics Workshop. We’ve been getting many requests to host one, so this will be the first of many.

Build you own mini aquaponic system and grow leafy greens and herbs all year round.

The cost is $45 if you want to come and watch and eat homemade pizza, and an additional $55 (materials fee) if you want to build one to take home. Materials include what you will need to make the top part (1 grow bed, hydration pebbles, hose/valve/fittings), you just need to provide the bottom half when you get home (fish tank, fish, pump).

The workshop will be held at Hubby’s downtown studio at Richmond & Spadina on Sunday May 11, 2014, from 2:00-4:30pm. We will show you how to make your own mini aquaponic system like this (but only with 1 top grow bed).

If you can’t make it we understand, but if you are able to join us (I’ll be making pizza too to really entice you), then visit Eventbrite to get your tickets. Hubby and I look forward to meeting other fellow aquapons!

Follow me on Facebook and Twitter for upcoming workshops and cooking classes on topics such as: sprouts & micro greens, mushroom inoculation, basement aquaponics, food styling and photography for bloggers, dumplings, stirfy 101, home canning, lacto-fermentation)

  • blake clark - Hello!!!
I think your site is awesome! You are located in toronto, I’m in ajax….I would love to get an email for you as I have a few questions.
I have knowledge of growing and am an urban farmer myself and very creative. I love the aquaponics set up and am thinking of doing similar and growing shrimp and quail this summer as my wife and I are staying put. we are both teachers and usually take off to BC to visit family.
Hope to hear back from ya!

  • Courtney - My husband is about to give this a shot for the first time today after checking out a DIY post on youTube…then I remembered I had bookmarked this page and was so excited to see you have several posts about aquaponics. I hope your system is still up & running. Would you be able to provide an update? Thanks for documenting your process so far.ReplyCancel

  • Bruce Sweatt - I am looking to build an aquaponics system for my classroom. and after hours of scrolling through Pinterest I found your pin. This would be perfect for wheeling around the school. Is there a place where I can see a step-by-step process of setting up the cart system?ReplyCancel
